SUMMARY:Spotlight on India: An Emerging Market for Advanced Energy Storage & EVs
DESCRIPTION:India is set for rapid adoption of energy storage for grid and transportation applications. The Indian government has set an ambitious target of 175 GW of renewable energy deployment by 2022 and is also expanding the grid to provide 24×7 energy access to all citizens. Along with this\, India has also set a goal of crossing 30% EV penetration by 2030 with focus on mass public transportation. Earlier this year\, NITI Aayog\, a policy think-tank for the Indian government\, won approval to launch its National Mission for Transformative Mobility to focus on EV adoption. Similarly\, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) also has worked on a National Energy Storage Mission. Both these Missions are being integrated into a comprehensive policy framework that will drive both stationary and mobility applications of energy storage. Additionally\, India is on the verge of launching an ambitious Mission for Battery Manufacturing with a target of 50 GWh of advanced cell manufacturing by 2023. The Department of Science and Technology has included Energy Storage as a priority in Mission Innovation\, and is encouraging partnerships for setting up various Centres of Excellence that will focus on energy storage. \nIn this webinar\, participants will learn: \n\nHow the Indian government driving opportunities for energy storage and what does it mean for markets to deploy in the country\, as well as the manufacturing base in India\nWhat the drivers are for India’s policy focus on energy storage and transportation electrification\nWhat opportunities the US industry may be able to leverage in international and domestic US operations\n\nSpeaker: Dr. Rahul Walawalkar\, Founder and President\, India Energy Storage Alliance
