SUMMARY:Power and Renewables Summit 2020
DESCRIPTION:Defining How Decarbonization will Reshape the Power Markets of Tomorrow \n\n\nAs the economic impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic deepen\, the key question energy stakeholders are asking themselves is: Will COVID-19 accelerate or decelerate the decarbonization of the US grid? And how the pandemic will affect project returns for large-scale renewable development across the US? \nBeyond this fundamental question around the pace at which the energy system will become renewables-centric \, C-level executives with utilities\, large-scale solar and wind developers\, ISOs\, investment banks\, regulators and energy majors investing in clean energy will also shed light on topics like the future of renewables and capacity markets in US markets\, long-term wholesale market risks for renewable generation\, the role of natural gas in the energy transition\, the impact of variations in energy demand on utility renewable procurement and many more. \nLearn more here.

SUMMARY:2020 DOE Office of Electricity Energy Storage Annual Peer Review
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Electricity (OE) annual Peer Review and Update Meeting is a programmatic review of projects funded by the DOE OE Energy Storage Program. The DOE OE Energy Storage Program includes a broad and comprehensive portfolio of projects covering storage technologies (e.g.\, advanced batteries\, flywheels\, electrochemical capacitors\, CAES) for utility-scale and standalone applications\, power electronics research\, and modeling and analytical studies on reliability\, performance\, and economic benefits for grid integration and off-grid applications. The 2020 DOE Office of Electricity Energy Storage Program’s Annual Peer Review assembles researchers from all across the DOE landscape – National Laboratories\, industry\, government\, and academia – to summarize the state of the art in energy storage research\, development\, and application. This year’s event will take place online. \nThis year the Peer Review Webinar\, from 10 am to 5 pm daily (Eastern)\, Sept. 29-Oct. 1\, will include more than 50 technical presentations\, more than 100 posters\, and a dozen roundtable panels and keynote talks. ESA CEO Kelly Speakes-Backman will deliver the Keynote Address on Wednesday\, September 30. ESA’s VP of Research and Programs\, Marc Chupka\, will also speak on the Electrification Roundtable on Thursday\, October 1.
