However\, almost all of these options reflect a utility supplier commitment to purchase enough renewable energy or renewable energy credits to match the annual average consumption of customers opting for a clean energy option – regardless of where or when the renewable electricity is generated.  A more ambitious\, and complicated\, product offering is emerging – namely a retail electricity product backed by clean and/or renewable generation matched with customer loads on an hour-by-hour basis.
