SUMMARY:Distributed Energy Experience
DESCRIPTION:Distributed Energy Experience sets out to help you manage and navigate the rapid growth of decentralized\, distributed power generation. Now on a virtual platform\, the Distributed Energy Experience will provide new perspectives on the relationship between distributed energy power generators and their customers across the commercial and industrial\, campus energy\, and district energy landscape. It will also feature discussions of new distributed energy technologies such as nuclear microreactors\, the rise of energy storage\, and advancements in wind and solar. \nCEO Kelly Speakes-Backman will deliver the welcome keynote address: \nStorage Leads the Charge for Generational Change\nOctober 19 at 4:30pm CDT\n \nSee the full Experience agenda here.

SUMMARY:ESA Webinar - FERC ORDER 2222: Implications for Storage Aggregations\, the Grid\, and Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Original Webinar Date/Time: \nWednesday\, October 21\, 2020\n2:00 – 3:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT – 12:00 PM PT \nOn September 17\, 2020\, FERC issued Order 2222\, which removes regulatory barriers to aggregation of distributed energy resources (DERs) in wholesale electricity markets. Energy storage is increasingly located in households and businesses on local electric grids \, and often is integrated with distributed generation and controllable loads. Enabling these flexible resources to participate together as “virtual power plants” (VPPs) in wholesale markets can enhance grid reliability and resilience while helping to lower costs for consumers. By augmenting and diversifying the supply of energy in wholesale markets\, Order 2222 will encourage competition and innovation and give DERs the opportunity to earn additional revenue that reflects the value of services provided. \nLike most major FERC actions\, however\, the arrival of Order 2222 spawns a number of questions relating to near-term implementation and eventual impacts. \nThis webinar will explore the real-world implications of Order 2222 from the perspective of different participants in the evolving grid. These include insights from companies that operate or aggregate DERs\, including storage; experts on RTO implementation issues and market operations; and distribution utilities that host DERs and would have to accommodate the presence of virtual power plants interacting with wholesale markets. \nSpeakers:\n• Ted Ko\, VP of Policy & Regulatory Affairs\, Stem\, Inc.\n• Michael Berlinski\, Director\, Emerging Technology\, Customized Energy Solutions\n• Timothy Roughan\, Director of Energy and Environmental Policy\, National Grid
