SUMMARY:Asia Clean Energy Summit
DESCRIPTION:Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES) is the region’s leading event focusing on clean energy technology\, policy and finance supported by leading government agencies\, research institutes and industry in Singapore. Held as part of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW)\, ACES provides a common platform for regional thought leaders in both the public and private sector to collaborate on critical issues and opportunities in harnessing clean energy for the future. \n\n\n\nESA CEO Kelly Speakes-Backman will moderate a panel on October 30\, 2020 at 9:15am:\n\nWhat value do energy storage systems bring to the grid? \nEnergy storage systems are increasingly being deployed to solve several key challenges facing global electrical utilities. These include the successful and efficient integration of intermittent energy from renewable sources\, offsetting or deferring transmission and distribution projects to save money\, as well as replacing diesel generators for back-up power. \nThis panel will discuss the value energy storage systems bring to utilities and their customers. \n\nModerator: Kelly Speakes-Backman\, CEO\, Energy Storage Association\nAchal Sondhi\, Asia Pacific Market Director\, Fluence\, Singapore\nMatthew McDonnell\, Director\, Strategen

SUMMARY:The Future of Energy Storage
DESCRIPTION:Addressing climate change—particularly at reasonable cost—will require advancements in a range of energy-related technologies. The Advanced Energy Technologies Series accompanies the work RFF researchers are undertaking to understand and examine the cost trajectories and future deployment potential of these technologies. Join ESA’s VP of Research and Programs\, Marc Chupka\, on Thursday\, October 29\, for a discussion on the future of energy storage\, which many experts look to as a critical complement to intermittent energy sources like solar and wind. \nMarc Chupka will share information on the current state of short-duration and long-duration storage technologies\, what challenges remain in both development and deployment\, and policy drivers impacting the future of energy storage in the United States. RFF Senior Fellow and Future of Power Initiative Director Karen Palmer will then moderate a Q&A session. The event is geared toward audiences with some existing background knowledge of energy storage topics\, although anyone interested in learning about the subject is welcome to attend. \nSpeakers\n\nMarc Chupka\, Energy Storage Association\nKaren Palmer\, Resources for the Future (moderator)\n\nClick here for more information.
