SUMMARY:Interconnection Standards What Project Implementers Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:A recording of this webinar is available for public viewing (below) \nConnecting energy storage systems and other distributed energy resources to the power grid – either at the transmission or distribution levels\, requires that such resources do not put the stability of the grid at risk; standards are set to ensure that the inverters that connect these resources to the grid meet requirements for ensuring grid stability but must not be so onerous as to make such interconnections impractical to begin with. \nIn this webinar\, experts will discuss the process and prospects for inverter standards for interconnection at the retail and wholesale levels. At the retail interconnection level\, the IEEE 1547 Standards for Distributed Energy Resources have been newly updated and govern numerous aspects of how distributed energy resources\, including behind-the-meter energy storage systems will connect to the grid. Meanwhile\, NERC develops comparable best practice guidelines for interconnection at the level of the bulk electricity system. Our experts will discuss recent developments in IEEE and NERC standards (within the context of broader inverter and interconnection issues)\, what project implementers can expect and what they should be aware of\, and prospects for the future. \nSpeakers: \n\nMichael Goggin\, Vice President\, Grid Strategies\nSara Baldwin\, Director\, Regulatory Program\, Interstate Renewable Energy Council
