ESA Files in Support of Proposed Storage Targets & Tariffs in Arizona
ESA filed comments to the Arizona Corporation Commission (“ACC”) today (January 22, 2021) in support of the Commission’s Energy Rules. ESA applauded the inclusion of all source procurement reforms, an energy storage target equal to five percent of peak demand, and energy storage tariffs that compensate for the full operational attributes of customer-sited storage. ESA recommended a technical change to ensure that contracted energy storage would qualify for the energy storage tariff and distributed energy target. If the rules are finalized Arizona would be the eighth state to pass an energy storage target.
