ESA Statement on Virginia Governor Signing Bills Reforming Taxation and Permitting of Energy Storage
“Virginia has taken the lead in energy storage development in the southeast,” said ESA Interim CEO Jason Burwen. “As we move from goal-setting to putting steel in the ground, enabling policies like tax and permitting reform are essential to ensuring that energy storage is deployed efficiently and cost-effectively. We were pleased to win this legislative package on behalf of our members, and applaud each of the bill sponsors and Governor Northam for their work pushing this forward. We also thank Virginia Advanced Energy Economy and Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association for their collaboration. We continue to work constructively with Virginia policymakers and stakeholders to lead the southeast in energy storage deployment.”
