Energy Storage: The Essential Ingredient in 24/7 Carbon-Free Retail Power Webinar
Original Webinar Date/Time:
Thursday, September 9, 2021
1:00PM ET – 2:00 PM ET
Retail customers who wish to consume “clean”, “renewable” or “carbon-free” electricity have many options. However, almost all of these options reflect a utility supplier commitment to purchase enough renewable energy or renewable energy credits to match the annual average consumption of customers opting for a clean energy option – regardless of where or when the renewable electricity is generated. A more ambitious, and complicated, product offering is emerging – namely a retail electricity product backed by clean and/or renewable generation matched with customer loads on an hour-by-hour basis. This is sometimes called 24/7 carbon-free electricity (24/7 CFE).
This webinar will explore the critical role of storage in constructing such offerings and the implications for a transition to a 100% clean energy grid.
