ESA Calls for New Programs to Drive Storage Target in New Jersey

ESA will submit comments today to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities on the state’s Draft New Jersey 2019 Energy Master Plan. In our comments, ESA supports several recommendations proposed in the Draft Plan such as developing programs to manage and reduce peak demand and advocating at the regional and federal levels for appropriate compensation of DERs. ESA’s comments include additional recommendations, including additional utility programs for customer-sited energy storage and a non-wires alternatives solicitation. Additionally, ESA raises concern over certain misrepresentations about the cost-effectiveness of energy storage and the benefits it can provide in New Jersey.
