ESA Recommends Energy Storage Compensation Program in New Hampshire

ESA submitted comments to the New Hampshire Public Utility Commission (NHPUC) on January 11, 2021 in response to NHPUC’s Order of Notice opening an investigation into the compensation for energy storage projects. ESA recommended that the Commission consider an energy storage compensation program similar to that which ESA proposed to the Connecticut Public Utility Regulatory Authority (PURA), and which PURA issued in a straw proposal on January 5, 2021. NHPUC’s investigation is a directive of HB 715, sponsored by New Hampshire Representative Lee Oxenham and signed into law by New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu on July 14, 2020. The law directs the Commission to submit a final recommendation to the Legislature within two years of initiating the investigation.
