ESA Testifies to Nevada Legislature on Storage Workforce Training Certification
The U.S. Energy Storage Association (ESA) provided testimony yesterday in opposition to SB 328, which would require that all nonresidential energy storage systems to be installed by persons who have received certification from the nonprofit training program ESAMTAC. ESA requested two changes to the legislation in its testimony: authorizing a state agency to approve other training programs than ESAMTAC, and limiting the requirement of ESAMTAC (a battery training program) to battery storage installers. At the conclusion of the hearing, Chair Monroe-Moreno said that she would not bring the bill to a vote without amendments to address concerns raised in the hearing. The bill must advance out of committee by 5/14 to pass this legislative session.
