Staying Power: The Role of Energy Storage in Grid Resilience
Original Webinar Date/Time:
Wednesday, October 27, 2021
2:00 – 3:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT – 12:00 PM PT
Energy storage can increase resilience across the electric grid on bulk power and distribution systems, before, during, and after a high-impact grid disruption. Energy storage can prevent grid disruptions before they occur, can provide back-up power to keep critical electricity infrastructure running during a grid disruption, and can provide crucial capabilities after a grid disruption. Energy storage can be deployed alone or in combination with other energy sources, like intermittent renewable energy.
This webinar will examine the emerging role of energy storage for resilience, focusing on back-up power during an outage or disturbance. Energy storage can help provide resilient back-up power at different scales such as a building, a campus consisting of multiple facilities or at bulk power grid levels, although the role of storage in providing resilience will vary in different circumstances.
Speakers:
- Julian Boggs, U.S. Energy Storage Association
